Last week, the 12th Speech in Noise Workshop took place in Toulouse, France. Three of our lab members joined the conference. Sara Magits, who won the Colin Cherry award at the previous SPIN workshop, was invited for a talk. Eline Verschueren and Elien Van den Borre both presented a poster. Congratulations Dr. Sam Denys

Another ExpORL member has successfully obtained a doctoral degree. During his Phd, Sam Denys developed, implemented and validated a hearing screening protocol based on speech perception in noise, which is now systematically used to screen the hearing of school-aged children in Belgium. Impressive work with lasting impact, congratulations!

Lien Decruy obtained her PhD, congratulations!

Congratulations to Lien Decruy for obtaining her PhD! Her dissertation was titled: "Neural tracking of the speech envelope: unraveling the effects of listening effort, age and hearing impairment." We would like to thank the jury members for their contributions: Prof. Verhaert and prof. McLaughlin of KU Leuven, prof. Anderson of University of Maryland and Dr. Millman from The University of Manchester. After an impressive defense, we celebrated with a nice reception and a beautiful performance of our own ExpORL band.
